This Privacy Policy applies to any information obtained by GuardOwl and affiliates (“us”, “we”, or “our”) in connection with operation of any websites, applications, and mobile applications related to GuardOwl (the “Platform”) and any services rendered (“Services”). 

 This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of Information we receive from any person and/or business (“you,” “your”) through your use of the Platform, services, and/or when you sign up for an account with “GuardOwl”.


We are committed to respecting and protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the use of personal data collected and processed through our Platform Services.

By using the Platform and/or Services, or Creating an account, you hereby agree to the collection, use, disclosure, and retention of information in accordance with this policy, and for all other purposes permitted under applicable personal information privacy statutes, credit bureau reporting rules, anti-spam legislation, and consumer protection laws.

All data collected through the use of the Platform and/or services, or the creation of an account belongs exclusively to GuardOwl.


While using our Platform, enlisting our Service, creating an account, using your account, downloading our software, or contacting us, we may ask you to provide us with Personal Information, including, but not limited to, your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, photograph, and birthday.  If you want to add a family member’s name to your account, or additional contacts, we collect the family member’s or other additional contact’s name, email address, and mobile phone number. We may also collect billing information when you sign up.


While using our Platform, enlisting our Service, creating an account, using your account, downloading software, or contacting us, we may collect the following Service Information, including but not limited to:

    •    Location Information. Through our applications, we collect information about the location of your device. 

    •     Device Information. We collect specific information about your device used with our services, including your hardware model, operating system and version, unique device identifier, mobile network information, and information about the device’s interaction with our Services. 

We collect your unique user identifier and your location through GPS, WiFi, or wireless network triangulation in order to obtain your location for the purposes of providing our Service. We collect the location of your designated safe zones in order to provide alerts. We maintain location information only so long as is reasonable to provide the Service and then delete location data tied to your personal information. We may maintain de-identified location data for a longer period of time in order to analyze aggregate trends and metrics. We may also share location information with third parties for advertising, research, and analytic purposes. If you want to opt-out of the collection of your location data, please adjust your settings in your mobile device to limit the app’s access to your location data. 

We may collect, and may use a third party to collect, sensory and motion data from your smartphone or mobile device, including information from the gyroscope, accelerometer, compass and Bluetooth. We maintain sensory and motion data as long as is reasonable to provide the Service and then delete or anonymize this data. If you want to opt-out of the collection of your sensory and motion, please adjust your settings in your mobile device to limit the app’s access to your sensory and motion data.

When you interact with our site through various social media, such as when you Like us on Facebook or post a comment to our Facebook page, we may receive information from the social network such as your profile information, profile picture, gender, user name, user ID associated with your social media account, age range, language, country, friends list, and any other information you permit the social network to share with third parties. The data we receive is dependent upon your privacy settings with the social network. You should always review, and if necessary, adjust your privacy settings on third-party websites and services before linking or connecting them to the Platform.


We may collect Log Data that your browser sends whenever you visit our Platform. This Log Data may include information such as your computer's Internet Protocol ("IP") address, browser type, browser version, the pages of our Platform that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages and other statistics.


Cookies are files with small amount of data, which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a web Platform and stored on your computer's hard drive.  We may use "cookies" to collect additional information, however, you can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of our Platform.


We may also collect information about you from third parties, including third-party verification services, credit bureaus, mailing list providers, and publicly available sources. In some circumstances, where lawful, this information may include your government-issued identification number. 

By signing up for an account, you authorize and consent to our obtaining from, and disclosing to, third parties, from time to time, any information about you in connection with the processing of any credit investigation, identity or account verification, fraud detection, or collection procedure, or as may otherwise be required by applicable law. This includes, without limitation, the receipt and exchange of account or credit-related information with any credit reporting agency or credit bureau, where lawful, and any person or corporation with whom you have had, currently have, or may have a financial relationship, including without limitation past, present, and future places of employment and personal reporting agencies.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to, and we are not responsible for, third party cookies, web beacons, or other tracking technologies, which are covered by such Third Parties’ privacy policies.


We may use information about you to provide, maintain, and improve our Services, such as:

    •    Developing new products and services;

    •    Delivering the information and support you request, including technical notices, security alert, and support and administrative messages; and

    •    Communicating with you about services, promotions, discounts, dispute resolution, technical assistance.

We may further use your information to protect our rights or property, or the security and integrity of our services; to enforce any other applicable agreements or policies; to verify your identity; to investigate fraud or other security breaches; and to comply with any applicable laws, regulations, legal process, or governmental request.


At times, we may make certain information available to Third Parties that work with us to provide products and services, or that help us market to customers.  Information will only be shared to improve our products, services, and advertising, as well as to comply with any applicable laws, regulations, legal process or governmental request or to protect our rights or property, or to protect us, users of our Platform, or the public from any potentially prohibited or illegal activities.

We may share your personal information with third parties outside the Company and its controlled subsidiaries and affiliates in some circumstances including: We share your personal information, including name, email, location and driving event data, with others whom you designate in the platform.

We may share your personal information with our third-party business partners, vendors and consultants who perform services on our behalf or who help us provide our Services, such as accounting, managerial, technical, marketing or analytic services. We may share your personal information, including your location data, with third parties for marketing purposes.

We may aggregate or otherwise strip data of all personally identifying characteristics of our data and may share that anonymized and/or aggregated data with third parties. For example, we may share de-identified location data with third parties that analyze location and movement trends.

We may at any time buy or sell/divest the company, or any combination of its products, services, assets and/or businesses. Personal information such as customer names and email addresses, and other user information related to the Service will likely be one of the items transferred in these types of transactions. We may also share, transfer or assign such information in the course of corporate divestitures, mergers, acquisitions, bankruptcies, dissolutions or similar transactions or proceedings.

Except as described above, we will not disclose personal information to third parties (including law enforcement, other government entity, or civil litigant; excluding our subcontractors) unless required to do so by law or subpoena or if in our sole discretion, we determine it is necessary to (a) conform to the law, comply with legal process, or investigate, prevent, or take action regarding suspected or actual illegal activities; (b) to enforce our Terms of Use, take precautions against liability, to investigate and defend ourselves against any claims or allegations, or to protect the security or integrity of our site; and/or (c) to exercise or protect the rights, property, or personal safety of GuardOwl, our Users or others.


We take security of information very seriously.  We take reasonable measures, including administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, to protect your information from loss, theft, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. We hold information about you at our own premises and with the assistance of third-party service providers. We restrict access to information to those employees, contractors, and agents who need to know that information in order to transmit, store, or process it, who are subject to contractual confidentiality obligations consistent with this Privacy Policy, and who may be disciplined or terminated if they fail to meet these obligations. Our third-party service providers store and transmit personal information in compliance with this Policy and other appropriate confidentiality and security measures.

Nevertheless, we cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will never be able to defeat our security measures or use your personal information for improper purposes. In the event that any information in our possession or under our control is compromised as a result of a security breach, we will take reasonable steps to investigate the situation and, where appropriate, notify those individuals whose information may have been compromised and take other steps in accordance with applicable laws or regulations. 

You may, of course, decline to submit any personal information through the Service, in which case GuardOwl may not be able to provide its Services to you.

We are not responsible for the practices employed by websites or services linked to or from the Service, nor the information or content contained therein. Please remember that when you use a link to go from the Service to another website, our Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party websites or services. Your browsing and interaction on any third-party website or service, including those that have a link on our website, are subject to that third party’s own rules and policies. Please read over those rules and policies before proceeding.


 This Privacy Policy is effective as of April 28, 2018 (“Effective Date”) and will remain in effect except with respect to any changes in its provisions in the future, which will be in effect immediately after being posted on this page. 

 We reserve the right to update or change our Privacy Policy at any time and you should check this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the Service after we post any modifications to the Privacy Policy on this page will constitute your acknowledgment of the modifications and your consent to abide and be bound by the modified Privacy Policy. 

 If we make any material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you either through the email address you have provided us, or by placing a prominent notice on our Platform.
